Wii Sports Online Multiplayer
One of the most anticipated new games with Wii sports online multiplayer is not going to be available any time soon according to Nintendo.
While Wii sports has been a smashing success with many Wii sports reviews listing it as one of the best games of 2007 and 2008, a follow up title with online play available does not appear to be coming any time soon.

There are a couple reasons, some released by Nintendo by most being interpreted by others.
Reasons There Is No Wii Sports Online multiplayer Forthcoming
Probably the biggest reason that no Wii sports online is coming anytime soon is because of the success of the first game.
While this may seem odd, it is not so much that the first game was successful but more to the point of why it was successful.
Because of the social nature of the game people would play and get together and because of this gathering it was felt that and online version may not have the needed success of the original.
In addition to that, the support from Nintendo’s current online community is not the best.
It would be difficult to port over the sports game and making sure that the playability stayed at the level of the non Wii sports online straight console version seemed to be highly unlikely.
With four or more player co-op and competitive play available on the console unit, is seems that this is put perfectly in place for success and adoption by gamers around the world.
The fact that the games are not online is kind of what separates the Wii console from other consoles available. If it were to offer online games it would simply be another in a long line of releases with online playability.

There are other factors that lead to the online version coming out, and most of this relates to development of other titles by Nintendo. While the sports line has been highly successful, Wii sports online was never truly meant to be a focus of the product.
Now because of the desire and need for single specific titles it seems Wii Sport 2, and with it Wii sports online, have been pushed to the side.
Hopefully after the new year there will be an incarnation of this because this game for one wants to see Wii sports online.
There are many other great sports titles out there that can be played online and I see no reason why this can not happen on the Wii.
